Operating system software

• provides the software to make the hardware work, different OS for different devices.

Utility software

• provides software designed to help analyse, configure, optimize or maintain a computer. eg file compression, defragmenter, anti-virus, anti-malware.

Application software

• is software made for end-users. eg Word processing for students and employees in offices.
